Day 01: Arrival in Cairo
Welcome to the land of the Pharaohs and the start of your family holiday! Arrive Cairo airport and included transfer to hotel and overnight. Free afternoon and evening. Overnight - Cairo.

Day 02: Pyramids & Camel Riding
Today, we visit the pyramids and Sphinx at Giza Plateau. Sole survivors from the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. Gaze in awe at the largest of the three great pyramids - Cheops, constructed from over 2.5 million limestone blocks it took more than 20 years to construct. Afterward we enjoy a camel ride accross the desert sands. Overnight - Cairo. (B)

Day 03: King Tutankhamen's Treasure
Cairo - Aswan. Today, we venture in search of the treasures of King Tutankhamen, mummies and more at the Egyptian Museum. Later we tour the Islamic Citadel of Saladin with views looking down over the old city, watching people go about their daily life. We conclude the day with a market walk through the bustling Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Time to freshen up, this evening we take the comfortable overnight sleeper train to Aswan. Day 04: Rural villages & markets
Explore the Nubian city of Aswan with a guided walk of the local market and souq. Stunningly situated right on the Nile, a walk along the river corniche to view the many boats is a real treat, as is Aswan bazaar. Free afternoon. Overnight - Aswan. (B)

Day 05: Aswan - your way
Free morning or opt for the morning excursion to Abu Simbel. The remainder of the afternoon at leisure; maybe relax by the pool, take a stroll along the Nile corniche or explore the ever lively market place. Overnight - Aswan . (B)

Day 06: Boating on the Nile
Aswan - Luxor. This morning we undertake a motor boat and cruise around and between the islands located on the Nile, stopping at Sahal island where we visit a local village and school (if open); sometimes there is even a local football game in action. Lunch will be served in the home of an Egyptian family followed by the train north to Luxor, one of the world’s greatest open-air museums. The 4000 year old site of ancient Thebes, known today as Luxor, is our base for the next three days. Overnight - Luxor. (B, L)

Day 07: Karnak Temple & Luxor Temple by night
This morning we have the option to go hot air ballooning before visiting Karnak Temple. More than a temple, Karnak is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, pylons, statuettes and obelisks. Built on a grand scale, Karnak is probably Egypt’s finest ancient temple. Free afternoon or wander along Luxor’s historic waterfront. This evening, we travel in horse-drawn carriages to the illuminated Temple of Luxor where we enjoy a tour in the cool evening air. Rest of evening free. Overnight - Luxor. (B)

Day 08: Valley of the Kings
Luxor - Cairo. Rise and Shine! Early this morning we cross the Nile River to the West Bank for a guided tour of the legendary Valleys of the Kings.

Attempting to confound thieves and graverobbers, the New Kingdom pharaohs awaiting their passage into the after-life were secretly entombed with their worldly wealth in the cliffs of the valley. The cliffs, bereft of vegetation are home to a vast necropolis of tombs, some of which you can enter and visit. Some of the tombs are so well preserved; the colors of some of the incredible pharaonic friezes are still as vibrantly coloured as when first painted.

After leaving Valley of the Kings and saying goodbye to our tour guide we return to our hotel, where here here will be a little time to freshen up before hotel check out and onward departure transfer to Luxor international Airport. Our tour concludes at this point with fond memories of a magical family holiday to Egypt!
